Our Lady of Lourdes to Start New Year With New Principal
MANITOUWADGE, ON – As summer’s end draws nearer, parents and students prepare for the start of another new school year. There will be many changes for students; a new grade, new peers for some, new teachers for most, and at Our Lady of Lourdes elementary school a new principal.
Suzanne Huot officially becomes OLOL’s principal as of this week, August 23rd having been approved for a two year term by the Superior North Catholic District School Board and having taken a leave of absence from Lakehead Public Schools.
Suzanne is no stranger to Northern Ontario, she was born here into a family of 12 children. She has been married for 32 yars and has one daughter. Suzanne is an active member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Kakabeka Falls where her involvement includes singing in the choir and leading the women’s group. These interest will no doubt serve the people of Our Lady of Lourdes parish well if she chooses to pursue them during her time in Manitouwadge.
Suzanne returned to school after 10 years working in ccounting to earn her Bacheror of Education. She has a passion for math and is the co-author of ‘Logico 2‘ while also participating in the publication of ‘Big Ideas for Small Mathematicians‘. In addition to these she also authored a book to assist parents in helping their children with math which is currently in the publication process.
Her experience in the education sector includes having worked as a teacher for 15 years, in elementary through senior divisions, and a Religious Education Specilist degree. Huot is a qualified, fully bilingual, principal.
She has a positive outlook on the potential of students, sharing this comment in the official press release from SNCDSB announcing her as principal;
“I firmly believe that everyone, child or adult, is smart. We simply need to find how and in what areas. By finding strength in our students, we will find the way to guide them to success. Parents, community, church and education system working tgether form the strongest link for the successful path of each child.”
