MANITOUWADGE, ON– Friday, August 17th more than a dozen young entrepreneurs, 9 to 12 years of age, participating in a week long Biz Kid$ Camp wrapped up a week of learning about business, sales and product development with a Market at the township’s council chambers.

Campers gain a basic overview of business and entrepreneurship through exciting, interactive games and presentations from entrepreneurs in our community. Among those they heard from was Jesse Plante, a local teen who owns a lawn cutting business with more than 70 clients, Manitouwadge Economic Development Corporation Board Member and local business owner Jim Moffat and OntarioNewsNorth.com Editor/Publisher Karina Hunter. The group also visited the airport where they met with a helicopter pilot to hear of his work, the Village Pizza & Submarines were they spoke with new owner Shamm Jacobson and several other interesting locations in the community where they heard from entrepreneurs regarding the pros, cons, challenges and benefits of business ownership.

Thursday the group had a video conference using Skype to communicate with those in the Biz Kid$ programs in Kenora and Thunder Bay.

At Friday’s Market the Biz Kid$ were thrilled with the support shown from residents as the majority of the kids’ products were sold out within the first 45 minutes of opening the doors to the public. What a great end to a very exciting week!

Congratulations to all the young entrepreneurs involved in the program on their overwhelming success as a group the kids together made a very impressive $1745.45!
