TORONTO, ON – First Nation leaders from across Canada yesterday re-elected Shawn A-in-chut Atleo as National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) – the national advocacy organization representing First Nation citizens in Canada.
Three ballots of voting were held today during the 33rd AFN Annual General Assembly taking place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto this week.
National Chief Atleo will begin a three-year term immediately. This is his second term as National Chief.
The final day of the three-day Annual General Assembly continues today with regular Chiefs’ business, including resolutions which mandate the work of the National Chief and AFN.
