MANITOUWADGE, ON – Accreditation Canada has advised that Manitouwadge General Hospital is Accredited with Commendation under the Qmentum accreditation program.  The QMENTUM program uses 8 dimensions of quality to measure overall performance of a hospital.  There are 986 criteria to be met and the Hospital met 968 of them for a score of 98%.  The evaluation also reviews Required Organizational Practices in which the Hospital scored 100%.

These excellent results reflect the dedication the staff at Manitouwadge General Hospital have demonstrated over the years.  They continue to find innovative ways to address patient needs that meet the highest levels of scrutiny.  This year’s Accreditation Team was again led by Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Clinical and Rehab Services Debbie Hardy.  She credits the excellent results to having a process that remains focused on the objectives and continues to be well supported by all the departments.  Sam Kearns, Accreditation Canada Team leader shared that she has performed surveys all over the world and felt the Manitouwadge General Hospital survey was one of the best she has ever conducted!  She was very pleased with how the Board and staff remained aligned with the Strategic Plan.  The results speak for themselves.

Long Term Staff Recognized

Nurses Bonnie Plummer and Cathy Kelly receive recognition for 30 years of service to the Hospital and community of Manitouwadge. Submitted Photo

As part of the celebrations for a great Accreditation result, the Hospital also recognized staff for Years of Service.  Special recognition was made to acknowledge the 30 years of service provided by RNs Bonnie Plummer and Cathy Kelly.  Their years of experience covered many great memories and some tragedies.  Nursing for so many years in a small community means you know most of the patients you work with and while that can be a great asset, it can also be a source of increased stress.  Bonnie and Cathy have succeeded in finding ways to cope and excel in this environment and for that, the Hospital and Manitouwadge thanks them.
