FRIDAY Registration Deadline for Manitouwadge’s 2nd Annual Amazing Race
MANITOUWADGE, ON – Community Programmer Shawna Patterson announced Monday that registration is open for Manitouwadge’s 2nd Annual Amazing Race next month (not related to the MFHT’s Amazing Walk). There a a few changes from last year’s event, most notably that the challenge has been reduced to a 2-day event recognizing that residents are busy during the summer and in the hopes that more teams will be able to participate.
Inspired by the TV show The Amazing Race, teams of two will are challenged to compete in 6 legs over the course of one evening and one day. Each leg will include a roadblock, a detour and a pit stop, where team(s) will be eliminated.
There is no running involved/allowed; however there are other fun ways of getting around from challenge to challenge.
The race begins Friday, July 27 at 6:30 pm with two legs of the race being completed that evening. Saturday, July 28, the remaining teams compete in the last four legs, with the top three teams racing for the finish. Participants must be 13 years of age or older. Teenagers between the ages of (13-16) must compete with an adult.
Patterson was looking forward to meeting this year’s teams “It’s always fun to see who pairs up for the teams; a parent and their teenager, longtime or new neighbours, a husband and wife – part of the fun for those involved is the experience of facing new challenges and how teams get to make great summer memories while getting to know each other better”.
The cost is $10/person which includes the BBQ at the finish. The BBQ is open to the public (of course those not registered for the event much purchase their food/refreshments). If you’re up to the challenge, looking for something fun to do next weekend and want your chance at some cool prizes; sign up at the Municipal Office by this Friday, July 20th.
