2012 CANADA DAY SAND SCULPTURE CHAMPIONS in MANITOUWADGE
MANITOUWADGE, ON – July 1st, as part of the Township’s Canada Day celebrations, a Sandcastle Building Competition was held on Lion’s Beach. For hours, individuals or teams of two worked diligently to create unique and interesting buildings, animals, and even a few castles.
Participants were pleasantly surprised when, at the end of the allotted 4hrs, Community Programmer Shawna Patterson announced that it would be the members of WhosArmy, the Canada Day celebration’s headlining band, that would judge the entries. Not only did this ensure complete objectivity, it gave the band members an opportunity to interact with fans, an added bonus for those entered in the contest.
Sandcastle builders were divided by age:
- Adult & Child 3 – 6yrs
- Children 7 – 11yrs
- Children 12 yrs & up
