Defining Greenstone’s Future
GREENSTONE, ON – Members of the Greenstone community met with economic developers, landscape architects and design professionals to come up with creative ideas and solutions to address the predicted growth associated with increased mining activity in the region.
Members of the community engaged in a three-day Charrette planning process to map out future development in Greenstone and build consensus at the community level for our shared growth plan. The event provided an opportunity for community representatives and other key stakeholders to develop a preliminary vision, goals and priorities which will provide direction in the community Economic Development Strategic Plan. This process was a unique approach to strategic planning, and involved collaboration between residents from all wards, community leaders, government and First Nation representatives, as well as the private sector, resulting in a collective voice for the region.

Council recognizes the importance of planning in building strong and sustainable economic growth. Public engagement provides a regional perspective, and adds value to the planning process, ” said Mayor Beaulieu.
The event was hosted by the Municipal Economic Development Office and lead by Hilderman, Thomas, Frank Cram in cooperation with Millier Dickinson Blais, with special guest Nick Sanders, President of the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce.
