St. Martin School Celebrates Catholic Education Week
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”.
TERRACE BAY, ON – Students in the Superior North Catholic School Board celebrated Catholic Education and Ontario Education Week last week, May 6th through 11th with a variety of special activities. This year’s Catholic Education Week theme of “Walking in the Light of Christ” is clearly felt when walking through the halls of St. Martin School whether you are a student, staff member, parent or visitor.
Throughout the week of March 7th to 11th students and staff at St. Martin’s participated in numerous activities that celebrate who we are as a faith based school guided by our Catholic Graduate Expectations. Parents and guests were invited to participate in these learning sessions during the regular school-day such as Oral Communication Presentations, Prayer services, Math Games, Drama Presentations, Poetry Slam, and Are you Smarter than a 5th (&6th) Grader; as well as several evening activities including EQAO night and Welcome to Kindergarten. All classes engaged students and parents in daily hands-on tasks planned to stimulate and maximize the learning of all persons involved.
The week concluded with the gymnasium transformed into an Art Museum, showcasing all student artistic creations, as well as the opportunity to work alongside our School Families in their creation of a Family Quilt. This was a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate how truly unique and special St. Martin School students, staff, and parents are and how driven they are in their pursuit of excellence for all!
