MANITOUWADGE, ON – This week has been a busy one at Manitouwadge Public School.  An exciting session presented by officers of the Manitouwadge detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police force was held in our gymnasium .

This session was called ‘Hug a Tree’ and these presenters gave our students and staff some very valuable information about survival in the woods.  Listeners were given demonstrations about safety and how to survive if in the event they get lost while in the woods.  Here we see students demonstrating one of the many techniques that could save their lives if stranded without proper clothing to keep warm.  Huddling underneath a large colorful garbage bag was fun for that day in the gym, but if needed, could save a life in the wild.

It’s always pleasing to see our students interacting with members of the local police department in a positive and rewarding atmosphere.  Another day well spent at MPS!
