THUNDER BAY, ON – The Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is advising the public to use extreme caution while traveling on the roadways today.
At this time, Highway 11/17 from the Harbour Expressway to the Highway 102 junction (Sistonen’s corners) is closed. The highway has been washed out in a number of areas along that route due to the heavy rainfall recently and overnight.
The Municipality of Oliver Paipoonge and the Township of Conmee has declared a state of emergency due to the number of road washouts in the area.
At this time, Highway 102 and Highway 61 remain open. Highway 11/17 from the Harbour Expressway to the Highway 102 junction, as well as Oliver Road remains closed.
