IMPROVING HIGHWAY 17 BETWEEN SCHREIBER AND TERRACE BAY
Gravelle announces resurfacing project will employ as many as 40 workers
Ontario is improving Highway 17 west of Schreiber to strengthen the northern transportation network and create about 40 jobs.
More than 16 kilometres of Highway 17 are being resurfaced between Schreiber and Terrace Bay. The project will improve the pavement condition and reduce maintenance requirements for this stretch of the highway.
“Our government is improving infrastructure across the province, while creating jobs and strengthening our economy. Projects like the resurfacing of Highway 17 will ensure our roads are safe and in good condition for years to come.” Bob Chiarelli, Minister of Transportation
Investing in Northern Ontario’s roads, highways and bridges is part of the McGuinty government’s Growth Plan for Northern Ontario. A strong northern economy creates local jobs and protects the services that mean the most to families – health and education.
“The Northern Highways Program makes investments in highway infrastructure that make our roads safer for local residents, industries and travellers while creating jobs for northerners.” Rick Bartolucci, Minister of Northern Development and Mines
