MANITOUWADGE, ON – Recently our grade 4 / 5 students have been learning about Early Civilizations in China, Greece, Rome, Mexico, Egypt. Grade 6 students have been learning about First Nations in the Far North, West Coast, Plains, Woodlands. The students are now well-versed and knowledgeable in regards to these periods in time.
As seen here, the fair included a perfect balance of written and hands-on materials for visitors to enjoy. Photos MPS
Included in their knowledge of these periods are interesting details regarding the
- location,
- food,
- clothing,
- housing,
- government,
- religion, and
- architecture
of these cultures gained through the students thorough research . To culminate their studies and celebrate how much they have learned, the students put on a Time Travellers’ Fair in the classroom; inviting parents and fellow schoolmates to drop in. Staff member Melita Boyd visited the fair and found the displays very interesting “Wow – what an impressive scene!” raved Boyd.
