Hazardous Waste Day a Success
The Township of Terrace Bay held its annual Household Hazardous Waste Day on Saturday to kickoff Spring Clean-Up Week. The event was open to residents in Terrace Bay, Schreiber, and Rossport. The Municipality, in partnership with a dedicated team of volunteers, collected an enormous amount of materials with the largest drop-offs being for latex and oil based paints, propane tanks, and car batteries. In total, 92 vehicles passed through the collection point with an estimated 6 tonnes of materials. Chief Administrative Officer Carmelo Notarbartolo says “Initiatives like this are important to divert these materials from our landfill. We are grateful for the support from our funding partner Stewardship Ontario, our experienced collector Potter Environmental, and our incredible volunteers.” The Municipality would like to remind everyone that the Electronic Waste Depot is free of charge at the landfill and is open during normal operating hours.
