MANITOUWADGE, ON – Last week, classes at Our Lady of Lourdes did many things to prepare for the celebration of Easter, among these was a reading of the Stations of the Cross by the Grade 3 and 4 class for the younger students from Junior and Senior Kindergarten and Grades 1 and 2.  The students did a great job of reading the stations while showing pictures they had drawn and coloured for each station.

Of course students and staff of OLOL had actually been preparing for Easter for 40 days, during the period called Lent when many had, in penance given up a special treat or a playing with a favourite toy or watching television perhaps.   At the Palm Sunday Mass (April 1st) Junior and Senior Kindergarten students sang a special rendition of “Hosannah in the Highest”.  In the weeks preceding Easter there had been at OLOL, many important prayers, discussions and readings in regards to what Easter means and the sacrifice that Jesus made with His death and resurrection and the meaning of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday this past weekend.

Not all preparations were serious, some were light hearted and fun (and full of giggles and smiles). In the Junior and Senior Kindergarten class, among the preparations was some fun dying Easter eggs to fill the paper bag bunnies they had created earlier in the week, the Easter Bunny also made a surprise visit to the class while the Kindergarten students had actually been upstairs asking around other classes if they had spotted him! What a crazy coincidence!
