MANITOUWADGE, ON – Special St. Patrick’s Day events in Manitouwadge began Saturday afternoon with Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Catholic Women’s League St. Patrick’s Day Tea & Bazzar.
The event was held at the OLOL Church basement where tables were dressed with green tablecloths and topped with flower centerpieces and St. Patrick’s themed confetti. The ladies, with assistance from some teen volunteers, served those who bought a $4 ticket tea & coffee with a plate of finger sandwhiches and desserts – a delicious lunch for just a couple toonies. There were also a number of tables where more delicious treats could be bought, attendees could try their luck at the penny table and more.

Later residents looking for some Irish style cuisine attended a supper at the Golden Age Centre where a choice of four stews; veggie, beef, turkey or “lazy man’s cabbage rolls” was offered along with buns, refreshements and an assortment of delicious desserts. Supper was served by the Bethany Pentacostal Youth Group volunteers, accompanied by the youth Pastor.
Events like these are held regularly at the Golden Age Club (there is a monthly pot luck which often has a special theme, watch the Northern Ontario Calendar for details and dates) and the local churches; they are a great opportunity to get out, meet your neighbours over a great meal or delicious desserts and often serve as fundraisers for the host group. Support your community groups and enjoy an afternoon or evening out by attending the next tea, bazaar or supper event you find on the Northern Ontario Calendar (here on OntarioNewsNorth.com, click on the link in the navigation bar above or CLICK HERE).
