Promoting Anti-bullying and Classroom Initiative at MPS
MANITOUWADGE, ON – The positive interactions between students, staff and visitors at MPS have become one of the many reasons our school has such a friendly and personable tone which resonates throughout the building. Along with other schools across the country, our school participated on February 29th in promotion of our anti-bullying campaign and Pink Shirt day. Wow – did our students ever get involved!!!!
For years pink has been the colour that symbolizes one’s support against any type of bullying, which was the reason the majority of our students and staff came decked out in pink that day. Our gym was literally a ‘sea of pink’ while students, staff and parents enjoyed a very informative and enlightening anti-bullying workshop put on by North of Superior Programs.
Pictured are students enjoying their small group sessions – and awwwww! – such a cute shot of a little sister getting a kiss of congratulations from her big sister!!! Our students are encouraged to wear pink shirts every Friday throughout the school year in support of the anti-bullying movement.
After the workshop activities, we held our monthly assembly to present the Character Goals awards to some very deserving students. For the month of February we recognized students who displayed outstanding achievement in regards to showing “Initiative in the classroom”. Students in receipt of certificates for their efforts were:
- Savannah Paton,
- Dalton Robillard,
- Amber Zlabis,
- Anthony Gascon,
- Chaeli McGrath, and
- Sarah Haliski (missing from photo).
It was another pleasant and productive day at Manitouwadge Public School!
