MARATHON, ON – Tuesday March 27, 2012 officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marathon detachment conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling Westbound on Highway 17 in Pic Township, East of Marathon in the District of Thunder Bay. During the traffic stop a quantity of cannabis marihuana was discovered in the vehicle with an estimated value of approximately $150,260.00
The driver Nicholas CHARLAND, a 31 year old male from Edmonton, Alberta and passenger Suzanne TRAN, a 23 year old female from Edmonton, Alberta were both charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule II substance.
Both have been remanded into custody and transferred to the Thunder Bay District Jail awaiting trial.
