GOVERNMENT OF CANADA SUPPORTS SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT IN THE SUPERIOR NORTH REGION
TERRACE BAY, ON — The Honourable Tony Clement, Minister for FedNor, today announced a Government of Canada investment of more than $1 million to support small business development and growth in the Superior North region.
“The Government of Canada recognizes the important role small businesses play in diversifying the economy and creating jobs in our communities,” said Minister Clement. “By working with organizations, such as the Superior North Community Futures Development Corporation, we are helping local entrepreneurs and businesses access the capital and expertise they need to succeed.”
FedNor funding of $1,020,000 will enable the Superior North Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC) to provide small and medium-sized enterprises with access to capital and business counselling services, as well as support for regional community economic development and planning activities for a three-year period. Based in Terrace Bay, the organization is one of 24 CFDCs funded by FedNor to serve Northern Ontario businesses and communities. CFDCs are community-based, not-for-profit organizations run by volunteer boardsand staffed by experienced business and economic development professionals.

Funding for this project was provided through FedNor’s Northern Ontario Development Program, which supports initiatives that strengthen community economic development, enhance business growth and facilitate innovation throughout the region.
