DRIVER CHARGED WITH STUNT DRIVING AND VEHICLE IMPOUNDED FOR 7 DAYS

 

MARATHON, ON – Saturday March 24, 2012, at 8:45 pm, a Manitouwadge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 17 east of Marathon, ON.

The officer observed a motor vehicle travelling westbound at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was travelling between 150-160 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone. The vehicle was stopped by the officer and the driver, Muhammed Khurrman AMIR, 20 years old, from Melfort, Saskatchewan was charged with “Racing a Motor Vehicle” as per the Highway Traffic Act section 172(1). AMIR’s licence was suspended for seven (7) days and the vehicle was also impounded for the same length of time.

AMIR is scheduled to appear inMarathon court on May 15, 2012.
