Serena Ryder Rocks A Full House In Manitouwadge Leaving with Firsts to Look Back On Fondly
MANITOUWADGE, ON – Sunday, February 5th patrons of the Nite on the Town Entertainment Series in Manitouwadge attended in record numbers, nearly reaching capacity at the Manitouwadge High School auditorium, to hear Serena Ryder perform.
Ryder did not dissapoint, putting on an incredible show full of strong vocals and soulful guitar accompaniments even performing several new songs for fans who sang along to most other songs she performed. Ryder told OntarioNewsNorth.com after the show that playing new material while on the road helps determine whether it will land on future albums “If I enjoy playing it at the shows it’ll probably end up recorded”.
Her audience, vastly varied in age from young children accompanied by their parents who sang along with little encouragement needed, to tweens and teens hooting and hollering at every opportunity (many admitting afterwards to wishing they could’ve left their seats to dance along) and many, more mature audience members, (including plenty of regulars from the Golden Age Club) all equally familiar with lyrics to Ryder’s music, approved wholeheartedly – if measuring their opinions by the roaring applause and enthusiastic accompaniment – of the ‘new’material as much the beloved familiar songs they had come to hear.
Ryder harmonized her musical talents with anecdotal commentary between songs sharing details of the “Northern Experience” she had enjoyed while at the Northern Comfort B&B where she & her road crew had been guests while in Manitouwadge. Northern Comfort Owner, Jocelyn Bourgoin, inludes among his titles CAO of the Manitouwadge General Hospital, and Fur Harvester (Trapper). It was the latter of the titles her host was working under when he brought Ryder on a tour of area woodlands via snowmobile – a first for the musician which she appreciated thoroughly and revisted fondly during her show, with stories of the adventure she had been taken on by Bourgoin.
The evening ended with Ryder answering an encore call before taking her leave of the stage to sign autographs and meet fans in the lobby. A long line of fans of all ages trailed down the high school hall for well over an hour, Ryder gladly taking the time to answer questions and elaborate on many of the stories she had touched upon during her show.
