MARATHON, ON –
Swim & Movie: On Friday February 3, children can swim from 1 pm – 2:30 pm and view the movie (We Bought a Zoo) at 2:45 pm.
Swim Lessons: The second set of winter lessons is starting February 4 – Saturdays and Sundays from 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm, please sign up at the Community Services Office by Thursday, February 2.
Council Meetings: Regular meeting of Council is scheduled for Monday, February 13, starting at 6:30 pm – Municipal Matters, Regular meeting of Council starts at 7 pm in Council Chambers at Town Hall. Please note February will only have one meeting. March meetings have been changed to the following dates; Monday, March 5, 2012, and Monday, March 19, 2012. The meeting schedule returns to normal in April, 2012.
Family Day: On Monday, February 20, anyone can skate for free from 10:30am to 12:00pm and/or swim for free from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Please note that the Town Office will be CLOSED on Family Day.
Zumba: Zumba classes are being held every Tuesday and Friday at the Holy Saviour Catholic School at 7 pm. Passes are $7.50 per drop-in or $48.50 for a book of 10 passes and must be purchased prior to the beginning of class at the Community Services Department during regular business hours. Active Living Membership holders get in free, simply show your membership card to the instructor and enjoy! Have fun this year with Zumba classes! Aquafitness: Aquajogging classes on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm, Aquasize classes on Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 10:30 am. To 11:15 a.m.
Winter Parking Restrictions – Will be effective November 1, 2011, to April 1, 2012, no parking on any street 2:00 am to 12:00 noon. Some exemptions apply. Please refer to Winter Road Maintenance By-Law No. 1592 at www.marathon.ca. Please be mindful not to cover Town sidewalks with any portion of your vehicle. Not only is it an offence, it also impedes snow removal.
Waste Transfer Station
Hours of Operation at the Waste Transfer Station, including the Recycling Centre, will be opened from 2 pm – 6 pm Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Rain Barrels – Rain Barrels are available at Town Hall, Install a rain barrel and you’ll be giving your plants non-chlorinated soft rainwater at just the right temperature. Cost is $50 per barrel plus HST, first come first served basis.
Pebble Beach: Vehicular access to the Pebble Beach parking area was closed off for the winter as of November 18 and will be re-opened in the spring. This is an annual exercise completed in consideration of safety.
