CHAPLEAU, ON – January 22, 2012 at approximately 2:40 am Superior East OPP in Chapleau were dispatched to a report of an assault and robbery at a residence on Minto Street. Upon arrival it was learned that the male victim had a case of beer stolen from his residence and while attempting to retrieve the case had been struck in the head with a full beer-bottle. The two male suspects who had fled the scene were subsequently identified and arrested. The victim was subsequently treated at the Chapleau Hospital for minor head injuries. Charged with the following Criminal Code offences are;
Michel BERGERON age 20 of Chapleau,Ontario;
- Unlawfully in a Dwelling House
- Robbery with Violence
He has been released on a Promise to Appear returnable on February 29, 2012 at Chapleau Criminal Court;
Michael McAULEY age 22 of Chapleau,Ontario;
- Breach of Probation
- Fail to Comply with Undertaking x 2
- Robbery and Wounding
- Unlawfully in a Dwelling House
- Obstruct/Resist Peace Officer
This accused has been escorted to Timmins,Ontarioto await a bail hearing.
