Schools Collaborations In Terrace Help Children In Need
Shoe Box Collection for 2011
TERRACE BAY, ON – Once again the families and friends of St. Martin School and Ecole Catholique Franco Terrace participated in the Operation Christmas Child shoe box collection. This is organized by Samaritan’s Purse and it has grown over the years. It is the world’s largest Christmas project. Hundreds of thousands of shoe boxes are distributed each year throughout the word to children affected by war, poverty, and natural disaster.
It is amazing the number of items that can be packed into a shoe box and we can only imagine the joy that these gifts will bring to the children. Perhaps the greatest gift for these children is to know that God loves them and people from so far away send their love and best Christmas wishes.
May our families and friends be blessed for their love and generosity, we collected an amazing 72 shoe boxes.
Holy Childhood Day
The students, staff, families and friends of St. Martin School and Ecole Catholique Franco Terrace participated in another wonderful Holy Childhood Day on Friday, November 25th.
The Holy Childhood is a charitable organization whose motto is “Children Helping Children”. This day is our annual Advent fundraiser for the Holy Childhood and it really is a festival celebration.
Each class organizes an event and we spend the afternoon in the gym moving from one activity to another. This is a day that we all look forward to with excitement and it was very successful again this year. With the prices of items ranging from 10¢ to 50¢ we raised over $500. Well done everyone for your ideas, your work and you spirit of giving.
