Gravelle Announces NCIR Funding to Help Communities Attract Investment to Thunder Bay-Superior North

The Ontario Government is helping northern communities attract new business and strengthen their local economies.

A total of $103,545 in funding support from the Northern Communities Investment Readiness (NCIR) initiative will help three communities in Thunder Bay-Superior North to implement ten investment-readiness projects. These projects are designed to help communities identify and respond to investment opportunities, leading to new jobs and economic growth.

The Municipality of Greenstone will use $45,000 in NCIR funding to build community profiles, an investment attraction action plan and a mining market needs analysis.  The Town of Schreiber will develop a community asset inventory, a needs/gaps analysis and a market study with $29,925 in NCIR funding. And with $28,620, Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek (Sand Point) First Nation will create a community profile and two model community projects, and will hold an investment-readiness seminar.

These initiatives are part of the government’s five-year Open Ontario plan to create jobs and promote economic opportunities in Northern Ontario.
