Pukaskwa National Park Regional Resident Survey Results – Marathon Next Week
Parks Canada presents the results of Pukaskwa National Park’s Regional Resident Survey
HERON BAY, ON – Tuesday, November 29 from 6 – 7:30 p.m., Parks Canada is hosting a presentation to share the results of Pukaskwa National Park’s Regional Resident Survey. The survey was distributed to households in the regional area surrounding Pukaskwa National Park in June 2011, and was designed with input from regional residents and representatives from First Nation communities. The survey results have been compiled and will be presented at the Marathon Public Library by Tanya Deeks, Head of Social Science and Application with Parks Canada. Ms. Deeks and staff from Pukaskwa National Park will be available to answer questions after the presentation. Light refreshments will be provided.
The survey has provided the park with valuable information and insight into residents’ awareness, understanding, opinions and attitudes about various conservation issues and specifically about conservation efforts in Pukaskwa National Park. The information that was gathered will be considered in decision-making related to conservation actions and programs, and it allows Pukaskwa National Park to better understand residents’ familiarity with the park and their communication and information needs as they relate to the park’s resource management activities and programs. For more information on the upcoming presentation, please contact Mike Small, Project Manager, at (807) 229-0801 ext. 261.
