Of the 3 games played yesterday, the Manitouwadge Wolverines won both of their games and had the home crowd roaring as they claimed the wins. We spoke with Wolverines co-captain Kevin Gauthier after the day’s final game and he was very positive about what the morning would bring feeling they were well prepared and had great momentum going. We asked Gauthier to what he credited the cohesive play of the Wolverines “We’re all friends off the court and have played together for years and that helps alot.’ he said adding that. Their opponents, LaVerendrye had put up a good fight but in the end their Coach wondered if over confidence may have played a part in their loss “We were doing well and it seemed we might win but then I think the guys got too comfortable” he said, the will no doubt, avoid getting too comfortable in their game later today.
As the action continues from MHS this morning, OntarioNewsNorth.com will be broadcasting live for those unable to attend (and for players to review afterwards should they wish).
In Girls Basketball, the Marathon Falcons will travel to Kenora to face the Saint Thomas Aquinas Saints who upset the defending NWOSSAA Rainy River Owls last Thursday 42-36 to earn the right to host this years championship, The format is a best of three set-up.
