STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED
NIPIGON, ON– During the weekend of November 4 to November 6, 2011 Nipigon and Schreiber Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 27 calls for service and issued 30 Provincial Offence Notices. Officers investigated 3 motor vehicle collisions and conducted 3 R.I.D.E. checks.
Saturday November 5, 2011 at 6:36 a.m. Schreiber OPP received a report of a single motor vehicle collision at Hwy 17, Township of Yesno. The driver of a tractor trailer unit lost control on an ice covered section of roadway causing the vehicle to enter the north side ditch and roll onto the side. There were no injuries sustained in the collision.
Schreiber OPP responded to a call of theft of fuel from Rossport, Ontario on November 5, 2011 at approximately 8:55 p.m. Officers located the suspect vehicle, a white Ford pickup truck, at Hwy 17, Township of Strey. The 33 year old male driver, Keith SIDER of Niagara Falls, Ontario has been charged with Theft Under $5000, Failing to Comply with an Undertaking, and Breach of Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code. The female passenger, 29 year old Brenda Shirleyann FRIEND of Niagara Falls, Ontario has been charged with Theft Under $5000 and Failing to Comply with an Undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code. Both accused remain in custody for a bail hearing on November 8, 2011 in Thunder Bay.
Sunday November 7, 2011 at 8:45 p.m. Nipigon OPP attended a business on Hwy 17, Town of Nipigon for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The 37 year old male driver, Eric Pascel PROVENCHER of Laval, Quebec was found to be in possession of a stolen Ontario license plate from Thunder Bay, Ontario and a stolen motor vehicle from Regina, Saskatchewan. The driver was charged with two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, contrary to the Criminal Code and remains in custody until his next court appearance in Thunder Bay on November 9, 2011.
