NIPIGON, ON – November 16, 2011 at approximately 10:35 a.m. Nipigon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of a single motor vehicle collision on Hwy. 11, just north of Lake Helen. The driver of a west bound tractor trailer unit lost control and entered the south side ditch.
The trailer of the unit was blocking the roadway causing Hwy. 11 to be closed for approximately three and a half hours. One fuel tank was damaged in the collision and fuel spilled into a nearby creek. The Ministry of the Environment was notified of the spill.
The 29 year old male driver of Brampton, Ontario has been issued a Provincial Offence Notice for Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
