How to Build Community Poster

TERRACE BAY, ON – At the regular library board meeting November 8th, Terrace Bay residents Karen Morley and Marie Clara Papineau presented the library with a framed poster entitled “How to Build Community”. This lovely donation (pictured above) has been hung in the fireside reading room for everyone visiting the library to enjoy and learn from.

POLICY

The Terrace Bay Public Library welcomes donation of materials to the collection but all donations must be suitable to the needs of the library and must meet the library’s selection criteria.

PROCEDURES

  1. The same criteria for selection will be applied to donations as are applied to all other materials considered for inclusion in the library collection.
  2. The library will not accept materials that are not unconditional donations.
  3. Donations are accepted subject to the signing of a ‘release form’. The form indicates that the donor relinquishes all control over the materials and that unconditional ownership of the gifts is retained by the library.
  4. The CEO shall make whatever disposition of the materials she/he deems advisable. Donations may be kept or discarded as appropriate.

DONATIONS POLICY

The Terrace Bay Public Library welcomes donations of materials however; the Library reserves the right to use the donation as suitable for the Library.

Suggestions for the use of donations is also welcome but the Library is under no obligation to adhere to the suggestions nor is the Library responsible for informing the donor of the disposition of the donation.

Before accepting the donated materials, the Library would like some assurance that prospective donors understand the Library’s policy regarding the acceptance and disposition of gifts.

MONETARY DONATIONS MADE TO THE TBPL

  • Monetary donations for less than $20.00 will not be issued a tax receipt.
  • Donations of $21.00 up to $250.00 will be issued a tax receipt and be recognized as a BRONZE donation.
  • Donations of $251.00 up to $500.00 will be issued a tax receipt and be recognized as a SILVER donation.
  • Donations of $501.00 up to $550.00 will be issued a tax receipt and be recognized as a GOLD donation.
  • Donations of $551.00 up to $1,000 will be issued a tax receipt and be recognized as a GOLD PLUS donation.
  • Donations of $1,001 and up will be issued a tax receipt and be recognized as a PLATINUM donation.
  • Donations of new books or other gifts, such as furniture, to the library can be issued a tax receipt if a receipt showing the value of the purchase can be provided.
