Holiday shopping season is officially underway and the shelves at Crossover will be filled with everything for the movie and game lovers of your family! Each week from now until Christmas, there will be new movies and games that will make great gifts, including some of this week’s new release titles. Let’s have a look at each one in detail…

NEW RELEASES (MOVIES)

Super 8: starring Kyle Chandler– While filming a movie in the Summer of 1979, a group of friends witness a horrific train crash which leads to a series of unexplained and unusual phenomenon in their small town. (Sci-Fi/Thriller) (DVD and Blu-Ray)

Conan the Barbarian: starring Ron Perlman– Conan embarks on an adventure across the continent of Hyboria on a quest to avenge the murder of his father and the slaughter of his village. (Adventure/Fantasy) (DVD, Blu-Ray and 3D Blu-Ray)

Spy Kids All the Time in the World: starring Jessica Alba and Jeremy Piven– In an attempt to bond with her new step-children, a spy invites them along for the adventure to stop the evil Timekeeper from taking over the world. (Family/Adventure) (DVD and Blu-Ray)

The Family Tree: starring Dermot Mulroney and Hope Davis- A dysfunctional family is given a chance to reconnect after the mother suffers an injury that causes short term memory loss (Drama/Comedy) (DVD)

Devil’s Double: starring Dominic Cooper– The Biography of the man who was forced to act as a double to Saddam Hussein’s son. (Drama/Biography) (DVD)

Love Begins: based on the Novel by Janette Oke– A man is sentenced to work as a farmhand at a ranch after getting into a fight at the local café. While there, he suffers an injury but is nursed back to health by Ellen. Soon after, Ellen’s ex-husband returns to try to win her back. (Drama/Romance) (DVD)

Carjacked: starring Maria Bello and Stephen Dorff– A single mom and her child are carjacked by a bank robber on the run. Now the mom must find a way to get herself, and more importantly, her child out it alive. (Action/Suspense) (DVD)

The Speed of Thought: starring Nick Stahl and Taryn Manning– A man possesses a the ability to read people’s minds, and the government has trained him to use his ability for deadly missions involving national defence, all while telling him that it will ultimately destroy him . When the man falls in love, he and his friend must find a cure for his gift and expose the lies. (Thriller) (DVD)

FOR THE GAMERS

The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword: With Wii Motion Plus capabilities, Skyward Sword is now the most realistic Zelda game of the franchise. This game features a blend of combat and puzzle solving missions with a massive new multilayered world that allows soaring exploration in a sea of clouds and intense ground-based adventuring. Available for Nintendo WII

CROSSOVER IN THE COMMUNITY

As we all know, this is a busy time of the year as shoppers begin dusting off the ol’ wish lists in search of the perfect gifts. This Friday and Saturday (the 25^th and 26^th), The Christmas Extravaganza will provide shoppers with a stop shopping destination featuring more than a dozen vendors/businesses from Marathon and nearby communities. Crossover Video and Games will be on hand with a table full of our popular (and some new) candy items as well as movie themed Doodle and Sticker Kits for the Kids! We will also be distributing free Regal Catalogues with pages and pages of great gift ideas! This event, brought to you by the Marathon Chamber of Commerce, is being held at the Moose Hall on Stevens Avenue. The hours are Friday from 5pm-9pm and Saturday from 11am-4pm. We hope to see you there!
