It’s almost here! The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train hit the rails again this month and it is quickly approaching the Northshore. Area residents will gather in White River Thursday night to bring non-perishable donations (and cash donations) for the food bank and enjoy the spectacular light show and entertainment the Holiday Train brings with it. Friday the fun continues as the train stops first in Mobert at 9am then continues through the day stopping in Heron Bay, Marathon, Schreiber and Nipigon before ending the day in Thunder Bay (See schedule below for estimated times of arrival).
The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train hit the rails again in November, to visit over 140 communities across its network.
Since the program’s inception back in 1999, more than $5.6 million and over 2.45 million pounds of food has been collected in Canada and the United States.
The goal of the Holiday Train is to collect food and money for local food banks and to raise awareness in the fight against hunger. At each event, the Holiday Train provides a box car stage, a line up of great musical talents and a corporate contribution to the local food bank. The community, in turn, is encouraged to donate food and funds, all of which stays in the community.
