MANITOUWADGE, ON – Friday October 14, 2011 at approximately 8:30 pm an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer from the Manitouwadge detachment, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling on Highway 17 east ofMarathon in the District of Thunder Bay. During the traffic stop a large amount of tobacco was discovered in the vehicle with a value of approximately $40,000. The driver did not have the required permits to transport the contraband.
Ansar Javed RANJHA, 43 years old male, of Calgary, AB was charged with two Tobacco Tax Act charges and speeding. The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Marathon on December 6, 2011.
