“It’s stellar, it’s really nice to see quality out there… [they] work together so well, it’s such a treat to hear those instruments together… the subtleties, the gorgeous subtleties of every little nuance!”– [Longevity John Falkner, proprietor, Duncan Garage Showroom, British Columbia
This is the last appearance The Brights will be making on this 6-week western tour. They’re looking forward to seeing old friends and introducing their soulful roots music to new ones.
“You guys are a treat for the senses! [My guests] were raving about the wee house concert! Thanks again for the treat.”– [Kathryn McIntosh, New Brunswick house concert presenter]
What do you get when two well-established singer-songwriters and instrumentalists band together? Alyssa Wright and Don Bray shine together as The Brights. As one musical colleague said “A little him, a little her, a little them. Much more than the sum of the parts” [Paul Court, Orillia Folk Society].
Roots music, tinged with gospel, country and blues is accompanied by guitar, cello, Hawaiian king, accordion, mandolin, cajon, and whatever new sounds have recently tickled their fancy. With soulful harmonies and sensitive arrangements, The Brights offer original songs in an easy-going, timeless style, equally at home in kitchen party or concert hall.
The Brights have shared their rootsy musical stylings and playful banter with audiences across Canada, in such venues as BC’s Duncan Garage Showroom and 2nd Street Studio B; Ontario’s Hugh’s Room, Toronto City Roots, Vital Spark Folk Society, BarrieFolk, Staircase Theatre, Live From the Rock and Mariposa Folk Festival; Quebec’s Church Street Concerts, Nova Scotia’s Harbour Folk Society, Mersey House, The Carleton and The Company House; New Brunswick’s Broadway Cafe, and numerous house concerts from coast to coast. This will be their first tour to include the prairie provinces, and they are looking forward to meeting many new friends along the way.
As their fan Robert Rountree exclaimed: “drop everything but your drawers and go see this group!”
