Terrace Bay Attends Thunder Bay Tradeshow
The Township of Terrace Bay sent two members of staff to the Prosperity Northwest Tradeshow put on by the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday September 21. The Tradeshow was organized for business owners in and around Thunder Bay to learn more about topics like the regions health care, forestry industry, and green energy plans. Municipal staff took the opportunity to showcase what Terrace Bay has to offer to current Thunder Bay business owners that may be looking to expand or relocate. The Terrace Bay booth featured some of the Townships marketing materials like the rollup banner, highway banners, a banner looking for business owners and print materials like the tourism brochure, economic update newsletter, and a list of available property in the Municipality. The booth also featured the “This is My Terrace Bay” video spliced in with a video outlining the new downtown. Special Projects Coordinator Sean Irwin said, “The Tradeshow was a great opportunity to show Thunder Bay what we have to offer and people seem to be pretty impressed with everything that has been going on just two hours away. A lot of people said they will definitely consider making the drive up next year to check out the lighthouse and the Slate Islands.” The Municipality has been trying a variety of initiatives to attract new business investment and will work with prospective entrepreneurs in setting up in Terrace Bay as a local liaison. The Tradeshow also gave staff a chance to see how other communities run Tradeshows which could help Sean Irwin and Allison Dennis, the Green Education Coordinator, who helped to plan last year’s Green Tradeshow.
