IMPAIRED DRIVER CHARGED
NIPIGON, ON –During the weekend of September 23 to September 25, 2011 Nipigon and Schreiber Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to:
- 32 calls for service
- Issued 37 Provincial Offence Notices
- Officers investigated 2 motor vehicle collisions
September 23 at approximately 9:45 p.m. Nipigon OPP conducted a traffic stop at Hwy 17, Township of Corrigal east of Nipigon. Officers spoke to the driver and found that he had been drinking. The 46 year old male driver of Schreiber, Ontario was arrested for Impaired Driving and returned to the Nipigon OPP detachment.
The driver, Cosimo COSTA, has been charged with Impaired Driving contrary to the Criminal Code and is to appear in Nipigon Court on November 29 to answer to the charge. The driver was further charged with offences contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance, the Highway Traffic, and Liquor License Acts.
