Kiwissa Ski Club New Logo & Apparel
MANITOUWADGE, ON – Thanks to social media, local groups and organizations are able to communicate with members, outside their regular events more than ever, allowing their memberships to feel involved and included while attracting new members from every corner of the globe.
Ed & Linda Hedderson are a great example of how this can be done successfully to have very positive impacts on a local group when it welcomes a global membership. As volunteers and executive members of the Kiwissa Ski Club, they’ve connected with young members, ski and snowboard enthusiasts like Devan Pelletier (Organizer of last year’s Rail Jam at Kiwissa) as well as past residents that are no longer in Manitouwadge but very much interested in participating in the future of their club as you will read in the President’s Note below. Through the club’s facebook group they inspire members in the off-season and assist in spreading the word.Recently, Kiwissa Ski Club President Ed Hedderson released the club’s new logo through facebook; here is his message to current and future members:
On behalf of the executive members of the Kiwissa Si Club I
am pleased and very excited to present to you our new logo for the Kiwissa Ski
Club. After some enthusiastic urging from Connie Hedderson, all members agreed
that the time had come to develop a new logo. We turned to former resident of
Manitouwadge, and professional graphic artist Rob McKinnon of Conflict Design.
Rob was quick to provide us with an initial concept, and then showed great
patience as we requested some minor changes and experimented with colours. The
end result gives us 3 versions of a logo that depicts both a skier and a
boarder in full enjoyment mode. The infamous Indian head is gone, but our
aboriginal connection is maintained with the feather image at the bottom of the
logo.Of the 3 versions that have been developed the one that will get used the
most will be the one with our newly adopted promotional slogan “Experience
Kiwissa”. This slogan was suggested by long time Kiwissa Ski Club member Rob
Scapinello who explained “Coming to Kiwissa is more than just another day at
the hill”. Not only do we have resort style skiing and boarding but there is
always a warm and welcoming atmosphere in our cozy chalet where the club
members are there to help wherever they can.We are not only excited about our new logo but also our
upcoming season. I do believe some folks have already started snow dancing and
it is only mid SeptemberEd Hedderson, Kiwissa Ski Club President
Kiwissa’s New Modern Logo better represents the modern facilities and excitement of the Kiwissa Ski Centre. If you would like more information on the Kiwissa Ski Club’s work, contact Ed Hedderson (he’s in the book) OR join them in their Facebook group by CLICKING HERE.
