STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLES RECOVERED
MARATHON, ON –In the early morning hours of August 14, 2011 Marathon Ontario Provincial Police were conducting patrol in the Penn Lake area when a suspicious vehicle was observed.
When the police attempted to stop the vehicle it evaded police and sped off. The vehicle was located in a laneway not far from the park area. Investigation into the vehicle revealed it to be stolen from Thunder Bay on August 8, 2011.
After further investigation two Marathon Youths have been charged in connection with the incident. Names cannot be released due to the individuals being youths. They have been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and Breach of Conditions.
Later that morning a vehicle was reported stolen from the 3 Hemlo Drive parking lot. The vehicle was recovered in Thunder Bay by Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) and charges have been laid by TBPS in this incident.
The OPP encourages residents not to leave valuables in plain view in vehicles and to also lock your vehicles at all times. Anyone who notices suspicious activity is advised to call police as soon as possible at 1-888-310-1122 or 911.
The OPP are continuing their investigation regarding this incident.
