Schreiber/Nipigon OPP Long Weekend Review
NIPIGON OPP INVESTIGATE MISCHIEF
NIPIGON, ON –During the long weekend of July 29 to August 2, 2011 Nipigon and Schreiber Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) issued 140 Provincial Offence Notices and responded to 132 calls for service. Officers investigated 7 motor vehicle collisions and conducted 22 R.I.D.E. checks. Police issued 3 three day driver’s license suspension notices to drivers who were operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol.
July 30 at approximately 3:10 p.m. Schreiber OPP were conducting patrol at the Terrace Bay Drag Fest and were advised of an unresponsive male in the campground area of the event. A male was observed with a quad runner and responded to police presence. The 17 year old male of Thunder Bay, Ontario, was arrested for impaired driving. After police investigation the male was charged with Impaired Driving and Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 milligrams of Blood Alcohol Content contrary to the Criminal Code, Possession of a Drug contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act, and issued Provincial Offence Notices under the Liquor License and Off Road Vehicle Acts. The male is to appear in Schreiber Court on November 16 to answer to the charges.
July 30 at 9:20 p.m. Schreiber OPP while on patrol at the Terrace Bay Drag Fest arrested a male for impaired care and control. The male was observed by officers sitting behind the wheel of a running motor vehicle after consuming alcohol. The 26 year old male, Brandon SWANSON of Red Rock, Ontario, has been charged with Impaired Driving and Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 milligrams of Blood Alcohol Content contrary to the Criminal Code. The male is to appear in Schreiber Court on November 16 to answer to these charges.
Nipigon OPP are currently investigating reports of mischief in the Town of Red Rock. Unknown persons have been vandalizing the school properties on Frost Street and Salls Street by writing on the buildings.
