Repatriation to Sandy Lake Has Begun
WAWA, ON – The repatriation of our guests from Sandy lake First nation has begun. “The first of five flights from Wawa back to Sandy lake First nation left at approximately 10:30 this morning” stated Mayor Linda Nowicki. The Mayor went to explain that “again the organization of thee repatriation and the efforts of our volunteers made the process very smooth.” It is hoped that all of the residents of Sandy Lake First nation that had been staying in Wawa will have been returned to Sandy Lake by this evening. If necessary arrangements have been made to continue the repatriation tomorrow morning. Until such time as it is lifted the Declared Emergency will remain.
