OASIS Offers Free Swim for All Ages – ALL SUMMER!
The Township of Manitouwadge, Community Services Department would like to inform the general public that the Manitouwadge Oasis Pool is free for all ages for scheduled public swimming this season. The decision to make the Oasis Pool free this summer may come as a shock to some residences who wonder if it is in fact true and if so, how this can be possible without adding a cost to the tax payer. Dave Raymond, Director of Community Services, Explains “the minimal amount of revenue which was being earned through collecting a user fee was only generating enough income to pay for the cost of collecting that money. The rest of the costs associated with the Oasis Poll are fixed and remain regardless of the number of people using it. By eliminating the fee this year, we have an opportunity to increase the usage at the facility and incur no increased cost to the taxpayers. Also, with better utilization of the Oasis Pool this summer, there will be maximized efficiency of the pool staff.”
There has already been an increased in usage at the pool with numbers averaging 70 people per swim, which is more than double the average of last year’s number. With this number of people using the pool we are going to see healthier, active families enjoying a refreshing summer exercise. Having public swimming free for the community this summer provides many social and health benefits for those using it.
The Manitouwadge Oasis Pool is still available for private rentals as well we public and private swimming lessons, all at a nominal cost. For pricing inquiries please contact the Community Services Department at 826-3227 x.237 or the Oasis Pool at 826-3592. You may also visit our website at www.manitouwadge.ca.
The Township of Manitouwadge hopes that you enjoy your summer and get a chance to take advantage of this great opportunity being offered to everyone.
