Municipality of Greenstone Applauds Premier Gold Mines
GREENSTONE, ON – Mayor Beaulieu of the Municipality of Greenstone is applauding Premier Gold Mines Limited for the effort they are putting into advancing their Hardrock Exploration Project. The Municipality is pleased to fully endorse the continued advancement of the project located in the Beardmore-Geraldton Belt of Northwestern Ontario.
Premier Gold has been intensively exploring the Hardrock site in an environmentally responsible manner. They have outlined new discoveries in the historic gold camp that produced over 3 million ounces prior to the last mine’s closure in 1970. The company has commenced the Advanced Exploration Permit application process with the Ontario government which will allow Premier to dewater some of the workings and eventually conduct underground exploration and a feasibility study.
The Municipality of Greenstone is currently facing economic challenges and the opportunities presented by Premier Gold will mean job creation and economic stimulation. The positive economic impacts of the company’s presence in the area have already been experienced by many local businesses and have resulted in Actlabs opening a facility for processing samples in the community of Geraldton. Premier’s policy is to utilize the goods and services that are available locally for the company’s operations wherever possible. Premier currently employs 12 individuals from the Greenstone area, 9 of whom are full-time and 3 part-time.
The Municipality strongly supports Premier’s plan to put the Hardrock Project into advanced exploration. If positive, this exploration could lead to future production. Mayor Beaulieu, stated; “Premier Gold is providing Greenstone with an incredible opportunity and we want to ensure that the future permitting and development of the Hardrock Project move forward. We will be meeting with the appropriate Ministries to ensure that this project happens this Summer and is not delayed to next year.”
