RAINBOW FALLS PROVINCIAL PARK, ON – As part of Canada’s National Fishing Week celebrations, July 2 – 10th a very special event was held near Schreiber. Saturday, July 9th, the 4th Annual Rainbow Falls Bass Blast Kids Fishing Day was held on the East Beach with an overwhelming response from young anglers in the area in spite of rain. More than 70 kids registered and all went home with, “Fishing stories, prizes, full tummies and smiles” sai Conservation Officer Jeff Anderson, from the Terrace Bay Area Nipigon Enforcement Team.
Congratulations to Marley MacDonald of Terrace Bay who was the lucky Grand Prize winner. Marley let out screams of joy that were likely heard throughout the park when she was presented with the Grand Prize which included a small inflatable zodiac style boat, 2 very nice lifejackets and a vessel safety kit.

Conservation Officer Anderson thanked all those who participated and worked to make this day so very fun and special. Anderson also wanted to recognize all the sponsors who “Make this event even better for the kids’. The 4th Annual Rainbow Falls Bass Blast was sponsored by Fishing Forever, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to funding worthwhile fishing, conservation and education projects. It was also supported by the Police Association of Ontario, Canadian Tire, and the Lions Club of Gananonque and many local groups and organizations including:

Fishing Forever chair Bob Izumi is an avid supporter of recreational fishing for both the young and the young at heart. “I love to create opportunities for children and families to go fishing,” states Izumi. “Fishing is one of the very best ways for parents and other adults to establish productive and healthy relationships with children.”
