MANITOUWADGE, ON – After months of negotiation, Louis Bérubé, Owner of Freehawk Enterprises Ltd. (a.k.a. Bikes ‘n Stuff), was thrilled to announce last week that it was official; he is the proud new tenant of the space, which when you are walking in with the parking lot behind you is to the left of his store in the Hallmarket Square in Manitouwadge.

Bérubé launched his business from his home in Manitouwadge, selling, maintaining and repairing bikes for locals but his people friendly attitude and experience as a biker himself, meant that in 2007 he choose to relocate to a downtown storefront. As 2011 brought new customers from across the Northshore and Greenstone, Bérubé felt cramped in the space offered by his current business space. The outdoor clothing he sells as well as bikes, snowshoes and other seasonal sporting equipment would be best, he believed, stored nearby to make room for the inventory that needs to be featured front and centre in any particular season “It will make the transition of seasonal goods much easier while making things easier for my customers as well, this of course is always an important part of any decisions made” said Bérubé. He explained for example that if someone purchases a bike for their loved one as a gift for a holiday that has not yet arrived, they will now have the choice to leave it at Freehawk rather than struggling to find storage for it themselves. Bérubé also gave the example of when bikes are brought in for repairs; until now if he was not going to work on the bike immediately, customers could not leave the bike at Freehawk, they would return with it when he was ready to perform the fix “The extra space will allow customers to leave their bikes when in need of repairs, this serves local and regional customers alike” said Bérubé clearly pleased with the improved service.

Now Freehawks' downtown space includes the area behind the windows on the left. It will not be accessible to customers but will definately serve them in a very big way. Photo OntarioNewsNorth.com

Another change that customers will note in the not-so-distant future is Bérubé’s storefront sign.  Though it currently reads Bikes ‘n Stuff this was a name given to his business by customers wanting to spread the word about the store which offers a multitude of products including youth and adult  footwear, children’s and adults’ outerwear, specialty clothing, badminton rackets, bikes for kids of all ages and abilities, bike accessories, and much more. He is now looking forward to acquiring a sign which will use the official business name “Freehawk Enterprises Ltd.” Bérubé is confident that customers will help get the word out to let people know it is in fact still the store they have come to love and turn to for all their outdoor adventuring needs.

Visit Bikes and Stuff in the Hallmarket Square in Manitouwadge to see for yourself all it has to offer, it is open Tuesday to Friday from 11am to 5:30pm and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm.
