Forest Fire Situation Update Northeast Region

NEW FIRES
Two new fires were reported in the Northeast Region on Friday, July 8. Sudbury 30 is a lightning-caused fire and is out at 0.1 hectares. It was reported southwest of Sudbury near Millerd Lake. Cochrane 13 is a lightning-caused fire and is not under control at 600.0 hectares. It was reported 30 kilometres southeast of Peawanuck.
No new fires were reported by the evening of July 9.Cochrane 6 is a lightning-caused fire and is being observed at 500.0 hectares. It was reported southwest of Kashechewan.
FIRE OF NOTE
Cochrane 13 is burning away from the community at this time. If winds shift – there is a possibility that smoke could drift into the community. Band Council members have been informed. As of today, no fire encroachment is expected on the community.

Cochrane 6 is a lightning-caused fire and is being observed at 500.0 hectares. It was reported southwest of Kashechewan
FIRE HAZARD
The fire hazard is moderate due to light rainfall and precipitation that will develop by tomorrow, but the potential for lightning-caused fires is high.
