Terrace Bay Approves Strategic Plan
The Township of Terrace Bay officially passed its new strategic plan document on the regular meeting of Council on Monday June 20, 2011. The strategic plan will set forth the direction of the Municipality from 2011-2014 and involves the areas of Health & Welfare, Excellance in Governance, Sustainable Economy, and the Environment. CAO Carmelo Notarbartolo says “The previous strategic plan outlined projects including the Cultural Centre, the Downtown Revitalization project and Physician Recruitment which we achieved a great deal of success. This terms strategic plan focuses on new areas like supportive housing, recycling, and waterfront development that our residents have told us is important to them.” The strategic plan was developed through the feedback of Council, administration, the Community Development Committee and residents and businesses through a public forum that was held in January. The strategic plan is a living document that will be reviewed regularly by Council and administration for possible modification. Administration will now develop SMART plans to identify the expected timelines and next steps to complete the goals outlined in the strategic plan. The acronym SMART is used for planning purposes so goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time Framed.
