CROSSOVER INSIDER – New Releases & Community Collaborations

As mentioned in a previous Insider, the month of June is an exciting month for movie and game lovers. Many big Hollywood titles make their DVD and Blu Ray debut this month, with at least 2 titles every week that had earned over 25 million at the box office. Starting us off this week (Tuesday, June 7^th) are the following titles;

True Grit: starring Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin- Nominated for several awards- A tough U.S. Marshal helps a stubborn young woman track down her father’s murderer. (Western) (DVD and Blu-Ray)

Just Go With It: starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Anniston- A plastic surgeon convinces his assistant to pose as his soon-to-be-divorced wife in order to cover up a careless lie he told to his much-younger girlfriend. (Comedy) (DVD and Blu-Ray)

Sanctum: starring Rhys Wakefield and directed by James Cameron (Avatar)- An underwater cave diving team experiences a life-threatening crisis during an expedition to the unexplored and least accessible cave system in the world. (Action/Adventure) (DVD and Blu-Ray)

Another Year: starring Jim Broadbent- Academy Award Nominee- A look at four seasons in the lives of a happily married couple and their relationships with their family and friends. (Drama) (DVD and Blu-Ray)

Blue Crush 2: Haunted by the memory of her deceased mother, Dana leaves Malibu behind and heads to South Africa to fulfill her mother’s dream of surfing Jeffery’s Bay. (Drama) (DVD)

Coach Lenny-:A man embarks on the adventure of a lifetime; helping to reunite a chief’s warring sons, fighting a money grabbing property company from turning the chief’s land into a golf course, coaching the village soccer team and ultimately.. finding himself! (Comedy) (DVD)

I Saw the Devil: When his pregnant fiancée becomes the latest victim of a serial killer, a secret agent blurs the line between good and evil in his pursuit of revenge. (Crime/Thriller) (Subtitled) (DVD)

La Rafle: starring Jean Reno- The story of the round-up of hundreds of Jewish people in Paris during the Hitler era. (Drama) (True Story) (Subtitled) (DVD)

Rubber:An outrageous comedy about a tire that comes to life and begins wreaking havoc in a small town (Comedy/Horror) (DVD)

Textuality:Two people attempt to get into a relationship, while exiting the multiple relationships they were each managing through their Blackberries before they met. (Comedy/Romance) (DVD)

FOR THE GAMERS:

Infamous 2: The game is set in a new city called New Marais, in which Cole MacGrath heads to in order to enhance his electrical abilities even further. The game begins with Cole battling the Beast in Empire City, barely escaping alive. In addition to the content on the game, players can design their own missions and distribute them to other players. (PS3)

Red Faction Armageddon: The fourth instalment in the Red Faction series takes place on Mars in the year 2170, when planet earth has been rendered unliveable. The main character is tricked into reopening a mysterious, vast shaft in an old Marauder temple by a fanatical Marauder priest, which awakens a long-dormant race of Martian creatures, causing an Armageddon on Mars. (360 and PS3)

Operation Flashpoint Red River: The sequel to Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising centers around a US Marine Corps during a conflict in the country of Tajikistan A terrorist group launches attacks on a US base in Afghanistan, prompting the United States to invade west Tajikistan and wipe out the Insurgent threat.

NEW TASTES

Crossover Video and Games smelled like a theatre on the weekend when our first batches of popcorn were popped in our new popcorn machine! For a small fee of 1.00, customers can enjoy a bag of our buttery and tasty popcorn. For only 0.25 cents more, you can add seasoning! Early reviewers say that our popcorn is a must try so don’t forget to grab a bag on your next visit!

HEALTHY COMPETITION

Friday, June 3^rd, marked the beginning of our Food Drive. Our store is competing against Fast Forward Movies and Games in Wawa to see which store can collect the most items for their food bank. Marathon’s Food Bank is in dire straits and we are calling on the community to help us help them. There are many people in our community that rely on the Food Bank to eat- it would be a shame to see it go!

SUMMERFEST COLLABORATION

Well it’s official! Not only will we have a table at the open market during Marathon Summerfest 2011, we will also be sponsoring the Drive In Movie Night and will be putting on a event of our own! Stay tuned for more details!
