NAKINA, ON – On April 29, 2011, the Ontario Provincial Police Greenstone Detachment received a report about a robbery that had taken place in Nakina.
Two witnesses came forward to police advising that they picked up a hitch-hiker who told them he had spent the night in the bush as he was scared. This male described to the witnesses that he was assaulted, and then robbed at gun point where his shoes, back pack and wallet were stolen by four Caucasian males in a red truck.
Greenstone OPP began a detailed investigation where it became clear that no part of the reported facts were true and that the man had been lying.
As a result of their investigation Raymond BEARDY, 43 years of age of Sioux Lookout has been charged with Public Mischief. He has since been remanded into custody and has a video bail appearance today.
