This event building gives them the opportunity to host a multitude of attractions commonly seen in other First Nations communities across the nation".
A new multi-purpose centre at Long Lake #58 First Nation will provide a gathering place for the community, which will offer educational training and will help create nine new jobs.
With support from the province, the First Nation, located near the community of Longlac, is constructing a multi-purpose centre that will be used for social, educational and cultural activities for children, teens, parents and elders in the community.
Making infrastructure improvement in Northern Ontario communities is a key component of the plan laid out in Ontario’s 2011 Budget – Turning the Corner, to create and support 10,000 new and existing jobs for Ontario families and to strengthen local economies.
QUICK FACTS
- Ontario is investing $1 million in this project through the NOHFC’s Infrastructure and Community Development Program.
