ANNUAL MCAG WALK RAISES OVER $3000FOR MANITOUWADGE RESIDENTS TOUCHED BY CANCER
MANITOUWADGE, ON – The Manitouwadge Cancer Assistance Group (MCAG) is a non-profit organization, managed by volunteers, which helps local individuals touched by cancer by providing financial assistance to support them during their trials with the disease. Saturday, May 14th the MCAG held their Annual Share the Care fundraising 5km walk (run, bike, ect) raising more than $3,300! Incredibly a large portion of that was collected by one top-raising participant, Ethel Noftal who raised an incredible $2,119 on her own (Mikey Dubois was the highest fundraising student collecting an impressive $273.75). Approximately 50 people participated; garnering pledges and donations in the weeks preceding the event while others helped by volunteering as staff/cooks of the barbecue which took place during the event.
The MCAG reminds everyone that the Connie Williams Golf Tournament which had been an annual event will not take place this year but is scheduled for summer 2012 as it now occurs bi-annually. However, they are working on seeing both MCAG Share the Care bike ride on Hwy 614 organized by Denis Lanteigne and ‘Think Pink’ a fund and awareness raising evening of fun for ladies take place this autumn (2011).
“Thank you to all the participants, volunteers and donors who helped make this event so successful!” said MCAG Vice President Jackie Jung “Thanks to the support of Manitouwadge residents the MCAG is able to continue offering assistance to locals whose lives have been touched by cancer”. Jung also expressed thanks to OntarioNewsNorth.com for it’s sponsorship of the walk, watch her interview in its entirety below…
