HE’s BACK! – Crossover Insider, New Releases & More…

I’m back! What a great vacation- being there to surprise my Great Great Aunt for her 100^th birthday party was well worth the angst of leaving the store for the first time since we opened on December 1^st. As nice as it was to get away, it is always nice to be back home and to get back to work. With the weather finally started to turn for the better, some have opted for the great outdoors rather than cuddling up for a good movie. The fourteen new releases this week might be reason enough for even the biggest outdoor enthusiasts to take a break and pull out a bag of popcorn. Let’s take a look at the 14 releases hitting the shelves on Tuesday, May 17^th.

The Mechanic: starring Jason Statham- An elite hitman teaches his trade to an apprentice who has a connection to one of his previous victims. (Action- DVD and Blu Ray)

The Rite: starring Anthony Hopkins- An American seminary student travels to Italy to take an exorcism course. (Horror/Thriller- DVD and Blu Ray)

The Roommate: A College student finds that her new roommate Rebecca has an obsession with her, which quickly turns violent. (Thriller- DVD and Blu Ray)

Broken Hill: starring Timothy Hutton- A teenage composer, dreams of being accepted into the famous Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Unfortunately, a good band is hard to find in the middle of Outback Australia – until a strange incident leads him to a group of talented prison inmates. (Drama- DVD)

Brotherhood: starring Trevor Morgan- Adam Buckley finds himself in the middle of a convenience store robbery during his last night as a pledge for a college fraternity. When the initiation ritual goes horribly wrong, and every move proves disastrous, Adam is forced to confront a new challenge all together, and he has to take a stand. (Thriller- DVD)

Daydream Nation: starring Kat Dennings- A city girl moves to a small town and becomes entangled in a love triangle between her high school teacher and a stoner classmate. (Drama- DVD)

Dumas: starring Gerard Depardieu- The complex relationship between two famous writers from the 1800’s. (Subtitled- DVD)

Lemonade Mouth: The story follows five high school students who meet in detention and form a band that becomes a huge hit with their fellow schoolmates. (Family- DVD)

Mob Rules: Time is running out for two elite criminals as they seek out revenge to get the money they are owed after a heist gone wrong (Action- DVD)

Modra: The story of two teenagers who discover themselves – and one another – on a week long summer trip to Slovakia. (Drama/Romance- DVD)

My Vietnam, Your Iraq: The stories of Vietnam veterans whose children have served in Iraq and the pride, challenges, fears and possible bitterness that parents and children are faced with when one is serving in a war. (Documentary- DVD)

Vanishing on 7^th Street: starring Hayden Christianson The population of Detroit has almost completely disappeared, but a few remain. As daylight disappears they realize that the Dark is coming for them. (Horror/Mystery- DVD)

Wartorn 1861-2010: Chronicles the invisible wounds of war, drawing on personal stories of American soldiers whose lives were torn by the horrors of battle and PTSD (Documentary- DVD)

The Way Back: starring Ed Harris and Colin Farrell- The true story of war camp escapees who attempt to walk 4000 miles overland to freedom in India. (Drama- DVD and Blu Ray)

FOR THE GAMERS:

L.A. Noire: One of the most anticipated games of the year so far! L.A. Noire is an in depth murder mystery game set in 1947 Los Angeles. The game-play centres around LA detectives as they attempt to solve a series of mysterious homicides. Step into the interrogation room to question the suspects, take part in fast paced car chases and watch as the bullets fly during pulse pounding shootouts! COMMUNITY COLLABORATIONS

It is our belief, at Crossover Video and Games, that forming partnerships within the community is beneficial for all parties involved. Our newest partnership is with the Marathon Figure Skating Club. We will proudly be selling Nevada break-open tickets in support of the club! An exact date on when the tickets will arrive is still to be determined…

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

Everyone loves popcorn and nothing goes better with a movie then a big ol’ bag of freshly popped corn! Starting in early June, customers will step through the doors of Crossover to the aroma of popcorn! That’s right- we are getting a popcorn machine! Customers will be able to purchase (for a small fee) either plain or seasoned popcorn to take home with them as they leave the store! Our seasonings will include (but will not be limited to) Salt and Vinegar, Cheddar, Dill Pickle and more. Also, watch for our popcorn machine to be set up during certain events at Marathon Summerfest 2011!

Seniors Day continues to be every Wednesday. If you know of anyone who is 55+ and loves movies, please let them know that they can rent 1 movie and get 1 free EVERY Wednesday at Crossover Video and Games!
